  I SWIL has become amazed by this story and have found some others, I will post about at a later date.  Now, I wanted to state that I had no idea this was happening in Portland Or. The subject of this article, Oregon is one of only a dozen states where the majority of its residents aren't from there. Each year thousands of 20-somethings move to Portland. The city's entire population is growing, but Portland is still about 80 percent white, making it one of the most homogeneous metropolitan cities in the country. Many of the migrants don't have jobs, kids or a mortgage. So why do they keep coming?

  Oregon economist Christian Kaylor says he can think of only one explanation for the migration into Portland: the quality of life.

 Kaylor says wages there are sometimes 20 percent lower than in Seattle or San Francisco. But people keep coming. In fact, Portland's appeal is part of why the city's unemployment rate tends to be about a point higher than the national average.

The freeze on pay for the Military has so many up in arms for those, who fight, for the right, to remain on this land free!  When the State of Washington does thing like this! How ca they feel good about doing this to the already poor. Nowhere did It say anything about pay cuts for the all ready over paid Elected Officials! The cost of their labor is mind boggling,we need to cut the Fat from the their pay! The blog world is turning out billions of blogs that deal with all kinds of content. The blogs like "I Stand Where I Live" range from everything like taken on the Web to Watch my kids grow.  Everything that you can think of is in a blog somewhere on the net. There are blogs like mine.  Although I will use some information that I find I will give credit to those who deserve it.
